NC State’s Mechanical and Aerospace Department invites applications and nominations for the Hassan Distinguished Professorship in Aerospace Engineering. The appointment to this endowed professorship will be at the tenured, full professor level. The successful candidate is expected to possess an internationally recognized research program, a demonstrated ability to attract external funding, and the ability to teach Aerospace Engineering courses at the undergraduate and graduate level. Expectations include the ability to spearhead multi-disciplinary, multi-department, and/or multi-university initiatives focused on addressing key research challenges in Aerospace Engineering.
Candidates must possess a Ph.D. or equivalent in Aerospace Engineering or a closely related discipline and must demonstrate a commitment to Aerospace Engineering education, outreach, and research. The search is for all areas of Aerospace Engineering including, but not limited to: space flight, atmospheric flight, aeropropulsion, aerospace vehicle design, flight dynamics and control, unmanned/autonomous aerospace systems, advanced materials and smart structures, aerodynamics, and aeroacoustics.
This position is expected to teach at the graduate and undergraduate level, to advise graduate students, and to establish a high quality, nationally-visible externally funded research program.
