SUMMARY

The Business Development Representative will lead business development and marketing efforts for electrical markets (power, process, healthcare, refinery, utility) in Central and Northern California, supporting the organization in Social Media management, market analysis, targeting clients/projects, identifying and communicating with empowered client contacts to achieve overall corporate objectives and appropriate growth results. This position reports to the President/CEO.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Partner with Vice Presidents/Division Managers to engage new potential client contacts, organize and tender qualification data to clients, and supplement proposal effort as required, within approved budget goals.
  • Organize events and foster new relationships with potential clients as well as maintain relationships with present clients in accordance with EMCOR’s Code of Business Ethics.
  • Provide input and maintain proper utilization of client relationship management system for communicating client contacts, current targeted project status, and known future bidding opportunities.
  • Develop strategies to meet market business development goals.
  • Assist the vice presidents / branch managers in providing optimum project opportunities which will permit the Operations to realize its growth objectives.
  • Work with estimating and operation teams to assess client hot buttons for tactical strategy to secure a win.
  • Work through client relationships to influence the format of the bid opportunities to provide optimum approach.
  • Perform research to identify, qualify and prioritize potential markets, projects and customers.
  • Assist as needed in the development of major proposals.
  • Lead the effort in developing presentations, brochure materials, website updates and maintain company project history database
  • When appropriate, train and assist project personnel to make effective client presentations.
  • Initiate and maintain an open and timely level of communication with President & CEO to maintain corporate management efficiency.
  • Identify and lead the effort to participate in strategic conferences/trade shows for Electrical industries.
  • Communicate effectively with all internal departments such as estimating, safety/quality, IT, operations in order to assist the business development effort.
  • Manage social media efforts to align with overall corporate objectives
  • Administer Business Development Unit policies, procedures and organizational structure within the boundaries set by Company policy and the management team.
  • Develop and maintain company branding for Social Media Marketing with LinkedIn and other Social Media platforms.
  • Manage company apparel and merchandise program

This position requires the flexibility to work with other departments of the Company in the Martinez office, as well as working directly with project field staff and/or on project work sites as needed.

PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction management, Construction Engineering or relevant discipline preferred but not required.
  • 2+ years of business development and marketing experience with relevant experience in some combination of the Electrical industry.
  • Contacts and well-established relationships with industry related clients, architects, suppliers, and engineers.
  • Must be familiar with contracting methods lump sum, negotiated and reimbursable competitive bid environment as well as all other alternate contracting methods such as IPD and IFOA.
  • Must be familiar with a unionized labor project environment.
  • Demonstrated leadership, sales and strategic planning skills.
  • Business communication savvy with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to travel as needed.

COMPUTER SKILLS

  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, (i.e. Outlook, Word and Excel).
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Must have the demonstrated ability to effectively communicate in English, cooperate, and collaborate with multiple levels of customers, employees, unions, government agencies, vendors and suppliers, and other contractor organizations.

The employee must move within the office to retrieve files and meet with employees in their offices or conference room. The employee is regularly required to walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to twenty-five (25) pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be occasionally required to travel by car (as a passenger or driver) to Job Sites, or to attend Commercial events/training, and must have the ability to navigate around job sites.
