Executive Director - Institutional Research and Data Analytics

Reporting to the Chief Accreditation and Institutional Effectiveness Officer, the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Data Analytics position is responsible for elevating the use of information to enable data-informed decision-making across every level of the institution. This high-profile position involves key interactions with the college president and executive cabinet members.
In collaboration with administrative and academic personnel, the Executive Director of Institutional Research and Data Analytics directs, plans, and coordinates the College's data-driven Institutional Effectiveness efforts including, but not limited to, reporting official current and historical data to all internal and external constituencies. The Executive Director of Institutional Research and Data Analytics provides leadership and support in the areas of strategic planning and data governance provides highly responsible and complex administrative support as directed by the Chief Accreditation & Institutional Effectiveness Officer (CAIEO), and coordinates assigned activities with other College programs, divisions, departments, and external agencies/constituencies.
Minimum Qualifications
- Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, or related field; OR equivalent combination of education and experience.
- 4-5 years of related experience.
- 2-3 years of higher education management/supervisory experience.
- Experience with SQL, Power BI (or similar), PeopleSoft (or similar), WorkDay (or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Computer Science, Data Science, Education, or related field.
- 5 or more years of complex data analysis.
- Experience building and sustaining a culture of continuous quality improvement, with demonstrated and quantifiable results.
- Experience in program/project management tools to organize, document, and assure milestones/objective are met.
- Experience with a student information system such as Colleague, Banner, PeopleSoft.
- A demonstrated record of using quantitative information to support strategic advancement.
- Baldridge or 4DX experience.
The ideal candidate should possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Understanding the issues, policies and procedures associated with higher education, institutional analysis, and data governance.
- Knowledge of planning and analytical methods and techniques and statistical planning processes, software, and models, including current technical aspects of data mining, information management, and other web-based technologies.
- Comprehensive knowledge and direct experience with computer software associated with data collection and analysis such as reporting applications, spreadsheets, statistical software, data warehousing, databases etc.
- Knowledge of, sensitivity to, and respect for diverse academic socio-economic demographic attributes of community college students, staff, and faculty.
- Ability to plan, design, coordinate, supervise and implement comprehensive institutional research/data analytics and planning projects to provide information about the College, its students, and its programs.
- Ability to communicate effectively, orally, and verbally, utilizing active listening skills.
- Ability to prepare and deliver effective oral/multi-media presentations.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others and work collaboratively and direct others toward specific outcomes.
- Demonstrated skill and commitment to client service in an environment of rapidly changing and ambiguous priorities characteristic of higher education.
- Ability to extrapolate meaning from data, analyze, organize, and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
- Ability to respond quickly and effectively to uncertainty and constant changes.
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills.
- Demonstrated knowledge of accreditation reviews, standards, policies, and procedures.
- Excellent priority setting and leadership skills.
Starting Salary Range
Administrative Faculty E
The minimum starting salary is $123,474. The successful candidate may be placed above the minimum of the range based on education and experience.
