Overall Responsibilities and Key Accountabilities

Primary Objectives and Accountabilities of the Role

  • The Environmental Inspector will report to the Environmental Manager and monitors construction activities to ensure all Environmental requirements are met.
  • Responsible for monitoring and confirming compliance with mitigation measures required by the FERC Order and other grants, permits, certificates, or other authorizing documents
  • Provide guidance and support to Contractor field personnel to confirm that all environmental requirements are understood and met.
  • Monitor Contractor construction work to confirm that activities adhere to project environmental requirements. Confirm Contractor personnel have required environmental training.
  • Identify and assist in resolving environmental deficiencies and events in a proactive and timely manner.
  • The inspector is also responsible for following up on events and deficiencies to confirm they are resolved and must prepare daily and monthly reports documenting corrective and preventative actions that have been implemented.
  • Confirm applicable Project documentation is retained and readily available at the Construction site/office.
  • Prepare status reports as per the project guidelines
  • BS in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Planning or equivalent; Advanced degree(s) preferred in a relevant subject area
  • 3 or more years of professional experience in industrial construction of LNG or Chemical plants
  • Working knowledge in the environmental and regulatory issues (EPA, LDEQ, FERC, PHMSA and local parish)
  • Excellent interfacing skills and handling emergency situations at the field
  • Ability to respond to safety issues in a hazardous environment
  • Technical reporting prowess
  • Excellent communications skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to work within a team with demonstrated strong interpersonal skills
