Bring your best to this exciting opportunity for a senior environmental planning and management position. You will be leading all aspects of CEQA and NEPA documents for transit, road and highway projects. This position will focus primarily on road and highway projects with key Bay Area clients. The role entails coordinating with project managers, project designers, and other disciplines on large scale and complex environmental transportation planning and urban design projects. What You’ll Do:

  • Leads aspects of internal and external coordination with project team members, including other discipline areas involved with the project.
  • Leads client meetings, participates in client meetings and interactions.
  • Conducts or directs research on issues, policies, and concepts pertaining to planning, and formulates recommendations.
  • Leads planning processes and technical solutions that best meet the project needs.
  • Prepares graphics, technical reports, fee proposals, and responses to Request for Proposals for planning projects.
  • Creates project presentation materials, concepts, graphics, and reports to the client and community groups.
  • Responsible for significant portions of presentations and public facilitation. Conducts public meetings/hearings/community workshops and interfaces with client groups and community stakeholders.
  • Coordinates with clients, sub-consultants, and in-house personnel on a regular basis to complete assigned tasks.
  • Provides work direction and leads Planners and support staff on assigned projects.
  • Coordinates the preparation of scopes of work, fee proposals, and responses to RFP’s for projects.
  • Develops and maintains client meetings and interactions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

What You’ll Need:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering or related field and 8 years of relevant experience, or
  • Master's Degree in Landscape Architecture, Planning, Environmental Planning, Urban Design, Architecture, Engineering, or related field and 7 years of relevant experience

What you’ll bring:

  • Managing CEQA and NEPA environmental documents for Caltrans, FRA, and FTA (scoping to design)
  • Providing QC for environmental technical studies
  • Authoring technical environmental studies (sub-specialties open) or providing key strategic advice on approaches to completing studies
  • Managing budgets, environmental scopes, and schedules

What we prefer:

  • Master's degree in Environmental Planning, Environmental Sciences, or Urban Planning or related field.
  • American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP), Professional Transportation Planner (PTP), Certified Environmental Professional (CEP), Envision
  • Strong writing and analytical skills
  • Experienced transportation background with NEPA and CEQA topics and project delivery processes
  • environmental technical discipline expertise
  • Grant writing experience a bonus
  • Equitable community outreach experience

The approximate pay range for California is $97,575.45 - $173,429.55. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be dependent on factors, including but not limited to, the individual’s qualifications, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as physical work location within the state.
