The Mt. Vernon site was established in 1972 and is the flagship site delivering innovative, life changing oral solid medicines. At the site we formulate and pack OSD tablets, capsules for over 60+ markets. The Mt Vernon site is the largest AZ production site in the US and is located in the southwest corner of the state of Indiana, approximately 15 miles from Evansville, Indiana – the third largest city in the state of Indiana. The Senior Facilities Engineer (SFE) is responsible for supporting Facilities engineering, maintenance, and the central utilities' plant as the technical subject matter expert (SME). The individual acts as AstraZeneca’s representative for Facilities mechanical and electrical engineering regarding infrastructure, utility services, and projects. The SFE will work directly with OSPs (third-party contractors) and through Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) providers, to ensure contracts, services, and equipment are fit for purpose, and meet SHE and GMP standards.
What you'll do:
Function as SME for facilities equipment, such as but not limited to: boilers, chillers, cooling towers, pumps, HVAC systems, air handlers, pressure vessels, air compressors, medium and low voltage switchgear, motors and drives, substations, motor control centers, generators, and lighting.
Prepare, arrange, and administer contracts for specialized facilities maintenance work including preparing budgets, being responsible for execution, recommending contract changes, preparing progress reports, and authorizing payments.
Develop facility/utility equipment projects, review/develop design specifications and scopes of work, provide cost estimates for annual budget(s), develop project milestones, and review cost proposals.
Complete analytical and solving skills to address mechanical and electrical systems issues. Conduct root cause analysis to improve system reliability.
Manage reliability, RCM, PDM, and other condition-based monitoring strategies.
Lead asset upgrade and maintenance outage tasks, to include coordination with other site outage planners
Evaluate, develop, and support team execution of technical solutions for overall site energy consumption reduction goals.
Responsible for improving mechanical systems and electric power distribution and generation through the development and implementation of a predictive and preventive systems maintenance process.
Develop and deploy methodology to monitor and reduce mechanical and electrical system and component failures.
Consult in the development of projects for improvements and expansions and support equipment repairs.
Develop job scopes for capital and maintenance-related engineering work to be driven
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or ME/EE Technology
Minimum of 5 years experience in a maintenance, engineering, or project management field
Experience with central utilities (boilers, chillers, compressed air, water supply, sewer discharge) and HVAC systems.
Experience with infrastructures including foundations, buildings, roofs, water processing, and plant operations
Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional teams.
Excellent written and oral communications skills
Demonstrated ability to organize and implement projects that improve the operational effectiveness of a utility system
Working knowledge of industrial and building trade practices, techniques, codes, and standards
Ability to work in a fast-paced, team environment and adapt to changing business needs
Proficient in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project. Strong working knowledge of SAP
Preferred Qualifications:
Advanced technical degree or professional certification
Experience of working in a Lean environment
> 5 years experience in the pharmaceutical industry
Strong knowledge of GMPs
