This role is accountable for two primary objectives:

  • Ensuring that the Procurement organization delivers results in support of the Janssen R&D strategy and objectives. The role works directly with the business, category leaders, and the broader function.
  • Contributing to and leading the operational execution of prioritized category strategy implementations, complex business projects, and other critical functional activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Understand the Janssen R&D priorities and partner with Procurement Category Leaders to devise strategies that advance those priorities
  • Collaborate with the business to ensure Procurement strategies meet their needs, and are adopted.
  • Identify industry trends that Procurement must incorporate in its category strategies to ensure sustainable relevance to the business
  • Lead strategic sourcing events and negotiations
  • Deliver against performance targets for the Janssen Procurement organization in the role’s areas of responsibility and ensure target achievement

Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent University degree is required.
  • An MBA or further advanced degree is preferred.

Experience and Skills:

Required:

  • Minimum 8 years of relevant work experience
  • Strong business acumen - Understanding challenges through the eyes of business leaders
  • Influencing skills - Able to persuade others to change behavior in pursuit of a common goal
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills at the senior executive level, as well as with peers
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to confidently present complex information to senior executives
  • Broad-based understanding of core procurement areas of focus including spend management, source-to-pay
  • Proven learning agility, improving both yourself and the people around you

Preferred:

  • Experience in Life Sciences, Med Technology or Supply Chain
  • Demonstrated agile behaviors
  • High level of credibility with internal customers, and with the supplier community, based on broad experience
  • Proven track record in cross-functional teams and implementing significant change programs
  • Multi-category experience with experience across geographies of varied sizes and businesses
  • Flexibility and willingness to respond to changes in the external environment
  • Strong project and change management capabilities

Other:

  • May require up to 10% domestic and international travel

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $97,000-$166,750. The base salary range listed is based on a US pay scale and may be adjusted based on the successful candidate’s geographic location.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/ performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.
