About the Team

We are recruiting a front-end focused Senior Software Engineer for the Scheduling Team in the Time and Labor space. Scheduling is currently working on some of the most critical products at Paylocity. We are on a mission to improve workplace happiness and reduce turnover by increasing manager efficiency and empowering employees to take more control of their work and lives.

Scheduling’s technical footprint covers a breadth of areas some examples are:

  • Recently upgraded front end to ReactJS for Supervisor and Employee experiences
  • An API first strategy to deliver integrations and experiences outside of the Scheduling domain
  • Near real time communication with front end experiences through WebSockets
  • Backend asynchronous processing engine to provide scalable experiences for clients
  • CQRS and Vertical Slice Architecture
  • Domain Events consumed by RabbitMQ/SNS/SQS

  • Often act as a technical lead for features or epics and complete features or epics where the approach is loosely defined and requires technical & design discovery prior to implementation
  • Ensure code is flexible, reusable, extensible performant, and high quality through feedback on code reviews

What you will bring

  • Passion for user experience and application performance
  • Demonstrable knowledge of front-end technologies such as JavaScript, HTML, CSS and ReactJS
  • Experience increasing front-end scalability and performance
  • Experience developing highly interactive applications
  • A firm grasp of object-oriented analysis and design
  • Passion for writing great, simple, clean, efficient code
  • Bachelor's degree in a computer science, engineering, technology related field or equivalent experience
  • 5 years’ hands-on experience preferred with full-stack web development, with experience in Client-Side Programming (HTML, JavaScript, CSS, AJAX)
  • Must be advanced in object-oriented design and development and unit-testing, and web pages using ASP.NET and/or ASP.NET MVC with C#
  • Experience with unit testing and integration test automation
  • Must be adaptable to change and have a willingness to learn
  • Must have a strong sense of curiosity
  • Must be able to work effectively in an agile and team environment
  • Must be effective and creative in problem solving
  • Able to work off-hours and weekends as the need arises

Nice to have

  • Well versed with Systems Architecture and developer tools
  • Good knowledge of relational and NoSQL databases
  • Cloud experience (AWS)

What success looks like

In this role, you will work alongside software engineers, product managers, and UX designers to own and drive efficiencies, code quality, and application health for the scheduling product suite. As a senior member of the team, you will be actively developing customer experiences and implementing performance improvements, helping to lead architecture decisions, and mentor other members of the team.

In the first 6 months you will:

  • Discover, suggest, and implement front-end performance improvements
  • Build relationships and communicate with various types and levels of stakeholders across the organization
  • Analyze and spearhead improvements to the systems and software that are important to the team
  • Manage risks, escalate priorities, and help to resolve issues that could impact production quality.
  • Advocate for best practices and a healthy balance of tech debt versus delivery
  • Actively mentor/coach less-experienced team members

This role can be performed from any office in the US. The pay range for this position is $84,487 - $182,372/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. This position is eligible for an annual restricted stock unit grant based on individual performance in addition to a full range of benefits outlined here. This information is provided per the relevant state and local pay transparency laws for the location in which this position will be performed. Base pay information is based on market location.
