Content Writer & Social Media Manager

The Content Writer & Social Media Manager will have the overall responsibility of developing, implementing and managing a digital content strategy that helps MiraKind to build a large and informed community of people who understand the KRAS-variant and how it may impact their health. This includes creating various types of content for social media, email, blogs and the MiraKind website that help raise women’s awareness of the KRAS-variant and its implications for cancer risk. This candidate would work collaboratively with other team members in the creation, execution and distribution of the social media content and newsletter. The Blog Writer & Social Media Manager would respond to and manage comments on social media, blogs and emails from the MiraKind community.

Candidates will have proven experience in conceptualizing, creating and implementing digital strategy plans in social media and email marketing that have been successful. In addition, ideal candidates will have prior experience in health, public health, oncology, or other related fields. A strong interest in women’s health is preferred, as well as a willingness to learn about complex scientific topics such as clinical research, biology, and genetics. This position reports to MiraKind founder Dr. Joanne Weidhaas and will work closely with other MiraKind staff and consulting team members.

Other Qualifications and Attributes

  • At least 4 years of blogging experience
  • At least 4 years of digital marketing copywriting and/or marketing communications experience
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results in a digital marketing role
  • Excellent blog writing, copywriting and editing skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional communicator with the ability to distill complex ideas into simple concepts for lay people
  • Natural sense of curiosity, with an ability to research to solve a problem or learn something new
  • Effective in independent work and teamwork, with the ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
  • Organized with the ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Tech-savvy and willingness to use new software
  • Passionate about women's health, particularly menopause

Nice-to-haves

  • Non-profit experience
  • An understanding of SEO
  • Deep understanding of genetics, oncology and/or women's health
  • Grant writing and submission experience
  • Experience with Survey Monkey and Canva

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Contract

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
