Raytheon Technologies is seeking an Associate Director, Space Vehicle Integrator System Engineer to deliver technologies customers need to succeed in any domain, against any challenge. From missile warning and intelligence to weather, navigation and beyond, our end-to-end space solutions provide a decisive advantage to civil, military and commercial customers in more than 30 countries.

In this role you will provide engineering expertise to ensure that the components/sub-systems of the space vehicle integrate into a fully functional and compliant satellite. You will also ensure satellites are compatible with its external environment and external interfacing systems (such as ground systems and other space assets).

This role takes personal ownership of ICDs, architecture products, requirement decompositions, and analyses – while coordinating the efforts of SMEs to ensure the full range of flight sciences and specialty engineering assessments close at the system level.

The selected candidate will have the wherewithal to lead, review, and perform technical work supporting the entire product lifecycle. Responsibilities will include performing a full range of systems engineering activities at different levels of assembly and vary as programs progress throughout their lifecycles.

General responsibilities include:

  • Requirements, interface, and Architecture engineering analyses and trade studies to include supporting modeling/simulation and cost/schedule/technical assessments
  • System design and technical baseline maturation including support to program reviews and milestones
  • System integration and test (I T) planning and support to I T activities; delivery, verification and validation engineering and support to V V activities
  • Implementation of engineering processes such as risk and opportunity management and product certification; special projects as assigned

Clearance requirements:

Minimum to qualify for the role: An Active and In-Scope Secret U.S. Security Clearance

After Start: The ability to obtain and maintain a TS/SCI U.S. security clearance. U.S. citizenship is required as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.

Required Skills:

  • Broad knowledge of Space Vehicle and subsystem analysis and design practices with expertise in at least one of the listed domains: Power, Thermal, Mechanical, GNC, Propulsion, Command and Data Handling, RF and Optical communications
  • Requirements engineering expertise
  • Demonstrated delivery working on requirements decomposition from system to component level
  • Occasional travel
  • System Architecture and Interface engineering expertise
  • Demonstrated delivery of ICDs encompassing functional/physical/electrical considerations
  • Hands-on implementation experience with space vehicle environmental testing such as thermal vacuum, static loads, dynamic loads, deployments, EMI/EMC

Desired Skills:

  • Component level engineering or production experience
  • Experience with optical or IR payloads, and/or the integration of optical or IR systems on to a space platform
  • Experience executing space vehicle assembly, integration, test (AI&T)
  • Expertise defining integration and test flows, identify special test equipment needs, and support AI&T plan + procedure development
  • Experience executing Department of Defense major review events: SRR, PDR, CDR, MRR, TRR, PSR, etc.

Required Education and Experience:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Engineering, Technology, or Math (STEM) and a minimum of 12 years of related work experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations

The salary range for this role is 139,000 USD - 277,000 USD; however, Raytheon Technologies considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
