DePuy Synthes is recruiting for a Research & Testing Engineer, located in West Chester, PA.

The Engineer will be responsible for handling mechanical testing of trauma, cranio-maxillofacial, and biomaterials implants, instrumentation, and materials. This includes working with product development, design quality, and other test engineers on test plans and protocols, fixture and test set-up design, and execution of mechanical tests. This will also include writing test summaries and reports.

Mechanical testing may fall into one of the following categories: static and dynamic, product, material, environmental, wear, etc.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Conduct and support mechanical testing activities within the DePuy Synthes MedTest Organization
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate real time results from testing activities
  • Aid in designing new test fixtures/set ups in support of new product development
  • Expand the capabilities within the laboratory applying research to develop new technologies/methodologies
  • Prepare test reports, develop, and deliver data presentations
  • Practice and promote good practice and rigor in testing techniques and documentation to follow internal and external quality standards.
  • Assist with laboratory operations as required

Qualifications

Qualifications

Required:

  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree in an Engineering field
  • 2-4 years of electro-mechanical and/or servo-hydraulic testing system experience (MTS, Instron, or equivalent)
  • A hands-on self-starter who is not afraid of taking things apart and successfully putting them back together
  • A strong communicator with the dedication to independently take on problems
  • Strong organizational skills to move from one project to the next in a multifaceted environment.
  • Customer service oriented and ability to interact and communicate expertly with all levels within the organization.

Preferred:

  • Medical device industry experience
  • Familiarity with ASTM and ISO medical device standards
  • A Mechanical Engineering degree
