Raytheon currently has an exciting IT systems administrator position available that supports the Raytheon mission of making the world a safer place. We are seeking an experienced Windows/Linux System Administrator that will be working in a highly collaborative, multi-platform and multi–disciplined environment. The System Administrator must possess a Secret security clearance as they will be responsible for administering systems that contain classified data.

The candidate is responsible for provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of systems hardware and software related to a Windows/Linux infrastructure for classified programs. Duties include, but are not limited to, server management (software and hardware); storage management (logical and physical); cross platform authentication and access management; data backup and restoration; software and license configuration; and workstation move support.

U.S. Citizenship status is necessary as a Secret clearance is required on day one of employment.

Responsibilities to Anticipate:

  • Provide IT systems administration in a heterogeneous Microsoft Windows and Redhat Enterprise Linux environment.

  • Understanding and knowledge of Windows Server internals to include DNS, DHCP, AD, and server replication methods.

  • Working as a team member in a fast-paced technological environment. Using troubleshooting techniques to resolve technical problems at a moderate to high scope and complexity to include the integration of hardware and operating systems (OS).

  • Applying acumen related to data RAID, data backup uses and technologies. Installation and configuration of software applications as requested by end users.

  • Working with Cybersecurity professionals to maintain security requirements and provide documentation on advanced IT processes and procedures and related tasks as assigned.

  • Must be able to obtain Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) within 6 months of start date.

  • Systems are operational 24x7 and occasionally require work effort beyond standard work hours.

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Active Secret US security clearance. US citizenship is required in order to be eligible for a security clearance.

  • Experience with, but not limited to, the following technologies: Active Directory, WSUS, VMware, Symantec Endpoint Protection, BackupExec, NetBackup.

  • Prior systems administration and networking administration experience, Windows or Linux administration, backup, and recovery enterprise suites is desirable.

  • Expertise with Server architectures and troubleshooting methods to be able to assist in developing solutions and documentation for a variety of technical problems.

  • Competence using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, VDI, Windows desktops (Windows XP, 7, 10), Splunk and Tenable, and NetApp.

Qualifications We Value:

  • Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification) and an Operating System Certification

  • Top Secret Clearance.

  • Direct working experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF

  • Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions

  • Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development

  • Experience with Microsoft WSUS, SCCM, and/or Exchange

  • High Performance Computing (HPC) experience in a Linux environment

  • Experience with Splunk, VMWare, SolarWinds, Ansible, Sentris, RSA, Thales, or TGS is a plus

Education Requirement:

Typically, a University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum 5 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree and 3 years of relevant experience
