Job Description


Looking for an exciting opportunity to gain hands-on experience in firmware engineering? We are seeking a Firmware Engineering Intern for the Runtime Team. You'll be responsible for developing real-time firmware code for head-disk interface spacing control and manufacturing firmware to optimize control parameters. You will also develop firmware features that increase device capacity while improving reliability performance and cost. Join our team of experienced engineers and make a real impact on the industry!

Develop and debug firmware for Hard Disk Drives that uses industry-standard tools and customized processes to deliver value to our customers, as part of a local team.

We are looking for an intern who is comfortable with programming languages such as C++ and Python, and can utilize them daily in the projects assigned.


Qualifications
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time college student pursuing a BS in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering or a related field
  • Expected to graduate between December 2024 - June 2025 preferred
  • Right to work in the US without requiring Western Digital to commence or sponsor an immigration case in order to employ you at any point in the future required
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as C, C++, Python or other relevant languages
  • Demonstrated expertise or course knowledge in structured code development and debugging
  • Must be able to work effectively as part of a multi-site agile development team
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication (written and verbal), and interpersonal skills
