Cox Communications, Technology Services team is looking for a Systems Engineer to join the organization and simplify the architecture to improve performance at a lower cost. This role will be responsible for owning network fulfillment key applications, their interfaces, and developing effectiveness measurement systems that determine the overall health, performance, and value of the overall system and each release. The Systems Engineer is required to be a proven application, interface, and data professional with development, systems, and problem-solving skills to drive actionable insights at scale and connect application performance with quantifiable value for the company (i.e., accelerate revenue, reduce operating expense, or improve return on capital).
Responsibilities:
- Key Applications: WATTS/Pega, SiteTracker, Engineering Enablement Solutions (program/project management and network planning tools), URBNT, and Oracle
- Responsible for infrastructure scoping and sizing for large program / project initiatives within network fulfillment to optimize application roadmaps and reduce total cost of ownership.
- Contributes to and/or leads efforts to design medium/long-term application roadmaps to consolidate redundant functionality and reduce overall ITRM costs.
- Accountable for planning and implementation of consolidated systems support services, tools, and infrastructure; services may be associated with hardware, software, web portals, internet and intranet connections, firewalls, servers, security, etc., within network fulfillment.
- Provides technical direction on improvement of systems support services, tools, and technologies and translates improvements to quantifiable value for the business (i.e., how do specific releases or overall app performance contribute to increased revenue or reduced operating expense).
- Plays a strategic key role in evaluation, configuration, tuning, and build generation for application roadmaps within network fulfillment to maximize value.
- Develops an application effectiveness measurement system within network fulfillment to determine the impact and value for specific releases and overall application performance.
- Produces training material, classes, processes, and procedures for technical personnel and systems users.
- Analyzes trends to determine root-causes of issues and recommends corrective actions for application performance issues within network fulfillment.
- Test new technologies, tools, and data and determine best practices across the team for network fulfillment.
- Keep up to date on new technologies, standards, and practices within the industry related to network fulfillment.
Qualifications
Minimum:
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and 6 years' experience in a related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as a master's degree and 4 years' experience; a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience; or 18 years' experience in a related field
- Deep expertise in application architecture and experience demonstrating improved value realization.
- Experience optimizing applications and delivering automation solutions to reduce operating expense.
- Experience designing and optimizing application interfaces, delivering maximum data velocity at the lowest operating cost.
- Extensive experience designing application roadmaps and retiring/consolidating legacy applications.
- Exceptional communication skills. Ability to successfully comprehend and communicate business insights to business partners.
Preferred:
- Experience within telecommunications, internet service provider, or related software industry.
- Demonstrated experience in an architecture or tool/application strategy role.
