Develops a wide range of communications on behalf of the President and the President's Office, in close collaboration with the Vice President for Strategic Communications and Marketing and works with Executive staff members to coordinate the content and delivery of communications as needed.
Anticipated Salary Range: $82,556 to $113,514 per year
Responsibilities:
- In collaboration with the VP for Marketing and Communications and the marketing and communications team, design and implement presidential visibility plan on a yearly basis (completed by start of new school year). This includes key topics for the president, speaking opportunities, media opportunities, alumni opportunities, on campus communications and community relations.
- Work closely with the president to develop her voice for consistency in all her communications both internally and externally.
- For each speaking opportunity (Director of PR will handle media opportunities) research and develop messaging for the president. This includes all external and internal opportunities including alumni.
- Contribute to crisis communications strategy, planning, preparation, and response as it relates to the President and Presidents Office.
- Write, edit, and tailor to intended audience draft correspondence, speeches, presentations, talking points, briefings, remarks, audio and video recordings and other collateral material and related communications that articulate the vision and ideas of the President; assist with sensitive communications that typically require considerable discretion, judgment, or negotiation.
- On behalf of the Office of the President, draft responses to emails and communications.
- Attend all Cabinet and Board of Trustee Meetings, take clear notes and help publish as appropriate.
- Review and edit draft communications from or about the President prepared by other offices to ensure they reflect the Presidents voice and priorities. Ensure the accuracy of all facts and details in speeches, statements and quotes issued on behalf of the President and official statements on behalf of the Presidents Office.
- Actively foster trusting relationships with internal and external leaders of college stakeholder groups to gauge and understand perceptions and to better frame audience-centered messaging.
- Apply and integrate antiracism terminology and language into messaging, storytelling, and other communications from the Presidents Office across all platforms.
- Manage the presidents social media (Linked In only for now), including drafting and posting messages, and collaborating with the colleges social media manager.
- Develop, maintain, manage, and monitor the Office of the Presidents web and digital content.
- Maintain biographies for the President and ensure they are current on the Presidents website, and in all other locations and communications.
- Represent the Office of the President on committees and projects, as assigned.
- As a member of the Office of the President, contribute to the development and implementation of the offices antiracism plan. Promote an environment and relationships with the campus community that reflect inclusion and respect for diversity and equitable practices. Actively support the colleges plan to be an antiracist institution by understanding, engaging with, and promoting diversity, inclusion, and equity in the college community.
- Promote a culture of safety and environmental protection by working in a safe manner; immediately reporting unsafe situations and accidents; following college procedures; and participating in appropriate safety training.
- Demonstrate environmental sustainability by using college resources wisely and supporting the colleges sustainability initiatives and innovation.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Bachelors degree plus a minimum of 5 years of experience
working with senior-level management; strong background collaborating with team members, outstanding writing, editing, and research skills to include writing for the web and other social media platforms; excellent attention to details; flexibility, creative thinking, openness to new ideas and changing priorities; innovative and results-oriented work experience.Ability to deal with complex changes and communicate them with clarity, authenticity, and diplomacy, manage multiple deadlines and projects effectively; and translate information into effective messages for various and diverse audiences. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues; develop and edit content with a diversity, equity, and inclusion lens; knowledge of antiracism terminology and best communication practices. Possess excellent skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with diverse populations and different cultural backgrounds and the ability to interface with all college constituents.
